I made some incredible Lasagna for my family this Christmas Eve. It was good enough that I'm going to make it again.
Here's the ingredients:
1 9 0z Box No Boil Lasagna Noodles
2 Eggs
15 oz Ricotta Cheese
2 Cups Mozzerella Cheese
2 Cups ‘other’ cheeses (Provolone, Gouda, Colby Jack, etc, there are NO rules)
½ Cup Parmesan Cheese
1 Lb. of ground Italian Sausage
1 Lb. of Ground Venison / Cheddar Sausage/brats (remove casings)
2 24 oz jars of pasta sauce (I went with Bolognese, and Garlic, mixed them together)
Here's how to make it:
1. Preheat Oven to 375 F
2. In bowl combine eggs, ricotta, mozzarella, and parmesan, whip it together so it can be spread smoothly, then set aside.
3. In 13 x 9 x 3 Pan, use 1 cup of sauce on bottom of pan.
4. Layer 4 noodles, and ⅓ of the cheese mix, half of the meat, 1 cup of the other cheeses, and 1 cup of sauce
5. Next Layer: 4 more noodles, ⅓ of the cheese mix, and 1 ½ cups of sauce
6. Next Layer: 4 more noodles, remaining cheese mix, remaining meat, and 1 cup of sauce
7. Top Layer: 4 more noodles, remaining sauce, remaining other cheeses
8. Cover with foil, tightly, and cook for 60 minutes.
9. Remove foil cover, and cook for additional 5-10 minutes until top layer of cheese is melted/browned. Internal temp should be around 160 or so. It might be boiling. Be careful.
10. Let it stand for about 10-15 minutes, then slice, and serve.
Pro Tip: If you can, shred your own cheese from a block. The stuff you buy pre-shredded has an anti clumping powder on it when it is processed so it doesn't stick together. It doesn't melt as nice as if you shred it yourself.
